University of Tampa // Downtown Tampa

Blackrock Asphalt and Milling recently undertook the meticulous milling and repaving of the running track at the University of Tampa, an NCAA Division II institution known for its commitment to athletic excellence. The project involved the precise removal of the existing track surface using our advanced milling equipment to ensure an even and stable base. Our team worked diligently to apply a high-quality, durable asphalt layer designed to meet the rigorous standards required for competitive athletic use. One of the key challenges of this project was maintaining a 2% cross slope for proper water drainage with the new asphalt. Blackrock achieved this by employing state-of-the-art on-rig electronics and large-format levels, ensuring precision and efficiency. Despite the logistical challenges of working within a university setting, our efficient coordination and adherence to strict safety protocols ensured minimal disruption to campus activities. The result was over 405 tons of 1.5″ asphalt and a fresh, new track for this Division II NCAA School, enhancing both safety and performance for the university’s athletes. The newly resurfaced track also reflects Blackrock’s dedication to delivering superior results for educational institutions.
